First Moshi Monsters Movie Announced!

Mind Candy has announced the first ever Moshi Monsters movie, set for theatrical release in UK and Ireland on 20th December.

Universal Pictures International Entertainment will be the global distribution partner for the animation including Theatrical, Home Entertainment, Digital and TV distribution.

The animated feature Moshi Monsters The Movie is currently in production by Mind Candy in conjunction from Cornwall-based animation studio Spider Eye and will take viewers all over the Moshi world from Main St to the peak of Sillimanjaro.

Michael Acton Smith, CEO and creator of Moshi Monsters, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Universal Pictures International Entertainment on distribution of the first ever Moshi Monsters movie. This is our first foray into movies and Universal brings the expertise needed to ensure the best possible success. We can’t wait for Moshi to hit the big screen.”

Darran Garnham, chief business development officer for Mind Candy, added: “This strategic global relationship with Universal Pictures International Entertainment will open up the Moshi Monsters brand, characters and rich world to new fans and markets around the world. We are all incredibly excited.”

Eddie Cunningham, president of Universal Pictures International Entertainment, commented: “As distribution partners, we are very excited about working with Mind Candy to bring the global phenomenon that is Moshi Monsters to the big screen through Universal Pictures UK and deliver a multi-platform multi-screen experience to children everywhere.”

Hmm... I wonder if they'll be doing a novelisation of the movie, and, if so, I wonder who they got to write it... ;-)

Moshi Monsters - The Night Before Twistmas

My Moshi Monsters book The Night Before Twistmas has been getting some love on Amazon* (and elsewhere) of late**. Here's what people have been saying about it:

"Funny and well written..."

"A funny spin on a classic..."

"I would say any Moshi fan will love and enjoy reading it."

"All monsters getting ready for Twistmas read it!"

If you've not done your Christmas shopping yet, remember to add The Night Before Twistmas to your Christmas list.

* The highest ranking I've seen for the book thus far is '207 in Books' and '#66 in Children's Books' which I think is quite high.

** In some cases from parents who have clearing already started, or maybe even completed, their Christmas shopping!

Moshi Monsters getting full iPad app 'in next few months'

Exciting news, Moshi Monsters fans...

With more than 60 million registered users, Moshi Monsters is already one of the most popular children's virtual worlds. Now it's set to go fully mobile before the end of 2012.

The company behind it, Mind Candy, has already launched a few spin-off iOS apps, both with partners such as ustwo and Penguin, and under its own steam – the recently-released Moshi Monsters: Moshlings.

However, the full Moshi Monsters experience is set to make the leap from desktop to tablet. "The tablet device is going to be the dominant form of entertainment for kids over the next few years," says Mindy Candy boss Michael Acton-Smith, Mr Moshi himself.

He talked about the company's plans in a speech at the Children's Media Conference in Sheffield: "We're hopefully going to launch Pocket Moshi or Moshi-on-the-Move or whatever it's called in the next few months... We're going to make it free, and hopefully have millions of kids playing it."
